Shanique was born on 11th December, 1989 and has been with us at St Benedict’s since 1990. Confined to a wheelchair, she is entirely dependent upon the caring staff at St Benedict’s for her basic care. Shanique’s smile can light up a room, and her bubbling laughter is infectious! She loves to go out for a spin through the beautiful banana fields near the Home.

Ari-N was born on 26th January, 1994, and came to St Benedict’s later that year. Confined to a wheelchair, she is entirely dependent upon the caring staff at St Benedict’s for her basic care. Still, Ari-N is a bright and opinionated girl who is thriving at the Helping Hands Centre for Children with Special Needs, where she spends time sitting in a traditional chair and practicing to feed herself. Since she began attending the Helping Hands Centre in 2006, she has grown stronger, more flexible and more alert. She never wants to miss a day!

Natalie was born on 22nd June 1985 and grew up on the Grenadine island of Bequia until she came to live at St Benedict’s in 2003. Natalie was our oldest girl our “little mom,” looking after the younger children. Confined to a wheelchair, she was mostly dependent upon the caring staff at St Benedict’s for her basic care. Natalie loved to color and practice her alphabet and counting. You could always find Natalie with a bangle on her wrist, sparkling as brightly as her lovely smile. On September 26, 2008 Natalie passed away. She was an intelligent girl who continued to develop her skills in writing and math. She was buried in Bequia where her family is originally from. Natalie was a great blessing to all of us, helping us appreciate the small things in life with her beautiful smile and laughter. |
